Biography

I head up the Appellate Law Section at May Oberfell Lorber. I started with the firm in 1982 and I have handled over 150 appeals in both state and federal courts since then. I also do a lot of litigation work for the firm, and I frequently serve as local counsel for out of town firms litigating in Northern Indiana.

Before I joined May Oberfell Lorber, I clerked for The Honorable George B. Hoffman, Jr. of the Indiana Court of Appeals.

I graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1977 with a degree in psychology. After that, I earned my law degree at Valparaiso University School of Law in 1980.

I am admitted to practice in Indiana, the United States Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth and Seventh Circuits, and the U.S. District Court, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.

I also teach appellate advocacy and act as an advisor to the Appellate Moot Court Board at the Notre Dame Law School, where I am involved as the appointed pauper counsel and supervise and advise students in actual appeals to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

I am a member of the American Bar Association, the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the St. Joseph County Bar Association.

Interests

Despite an obsession with legal technicalities, I also have a life outside my office where my interests revolve around my three children. They keep me busy with their activities which include: 4-H, Soccer, Hockey, Baseball, Basketball and Golf. I am also active in the not-for-profit corporation, "For The Children International Medical Mission Foundation, Inc." which has provided medical care and homes in the United States for many Filipino orphans with medical needs. Contact me or visit www.chosenchildren.bizland.com for more information about these children.
